چکیده
Blessed Egidio was a revered Catholic friar who lived in Basilicata (southern Italy) between the 15th and 16th centuries A.D. His natural mummy is preserved Mother Church of Laurenzana, village where he lived. During recent restoration conservation relic, palaeopathological analysis carried out. This revealed osteolytic lesions that affected maxillary bones, as two injuries were different morphology size distinctly afflicted right left maxillae. The macroscopic radiographic appearance lesion on maxilla its proximity to premolar tooth showed periapical granuloma suggest diagnosis an inflammatory odontogenic cyst (radicular cyst). second lesion, maxilla, non-specific might have been consequence process. Odontogenic cysts are common modern human populations but poorly described date ancient populations. case represents new rare diagnosed field palaeopathology.

The Basilicata Wealth Fund: resource policy and long-run economic development in Southern Italy
This paper contributes to the growing political economy literature of within-country natural resources management, by proposing a new resource policy for the oil-rich southern Italian region of Basilicata. The policy proposal is to establish a (regional) wealth fund in which all the royalty revenues from non-renewable natural resource exploitation in Basilicata would be stored and fully convert...
متن کاملAssessing Macroseismic Data Reliability through Rough Set Theory: The Case of Rapolla (Basilicata, Southern Italy)
This paper deals with the analysis of the reliability of information concerning damages caused to buildings by earthquakes. This research was started after analyzing a huge amount of written sources drawn up after 1930 Irpinia (southern Italy) earthquake. The analysis led to delineate damage ‘scenarios’, useful in trying to mitigate seismic risk for most affected towns. Once analyzed the effect...
متن کاملUse of Remote Sensing Data for Landslide Change Detection: Montescaglioso Large Landslide (Basilicata, Southern Italy)
Remote sensing techniques have been widely used since the 1990s in landslide research, deploying for this purpose different spatial and spectral resolution imagery. This research includes photo-interpretation and inventory of large landslides, determinant factors analysis, stereo-plotting of movements, and automatic detection by textural analysis. The potential or intrinsic factors of landslide...
متن کاملGenome Sequence of Bacillus anthracis Isolated from an Anthrax Burial Site in Pollino National Park, Basilicata Region (Southern Italy)
A Bacillus anthracis strain was isolated from a burial-site in Pollino National Park where a bovine died of anthrax and was buried in 2004. We report the first genome sequence of B. anthracis isolated in the Basilicata region (southern Italy), which is the highest risk area of anthrax infection in Italy.
متن کاملLandslide Susceptibility Mapping Using Artificial Neural Network in the Urban Area of Senise and San Costantino Albanese (Basilicata, Southern Italy)
Landslides are significant natural hazards in many areas of the world. Mapping the areas that are susceptible to landslides is essential for a wise territorial approach and should become a standard tool to support land-use management. A landslide susceptibility map indicates landslide-prone areas by considering the predisposing factors of slope failures in the past. In the presented work, we ev...
